Lover Avenged by JR Ward - Teaser Review

Verdict: Better than Enshrined, not as good as Revealed; gotta love the Rehv but I still don't really know what the hell a symphath is.

More later. Now: sleep would be good.

Thanks for the reassurance! Whew. I couldn't take another dud like Enshrined.

I got LA last night!
Sympath can enter a person's mind and screw with their emotions and thinking. I think they can make someone their puppet if they want to.
I would so be Rehv's puppet.

Just wrapped it last night. PLENTY to say!

I just picked up the first in the series and I'm already loving it!

Im there with you on the whole sympath thing, it took me a while to finally grasp on what the heck it was. If it's better than Enshrined then I'm there, but if its boring then count me out.

Sympath can enter a person's mind and screw with their emotions and thinking. I think they can make someone their puppet if they want to.yeah, I got *that*, but there are so many unanswered questions. If they're so damn evil, what keeps them in that colony? their head hive mind? OK, but how?

If Rehv is just dead meat in the colony by virtue of being a half-breed, as is mentioned several times in this and previous books, how the heck does he go from that to [SPOILER DELETED]? WTF? you know?

There's more... working on a full post... ;)

True - the head hive mind wasn't really played out. I would have liked to see a sympath doing something really evil. I don't care if it was Rehv, Xhex or whoever. I think he is in that certain position at the end of the book just because of his uncle.

True, we didn't actually learn all that much about the sympaths and what they can do in that book. Lots of talk on how evil they are but except from the princess, who we saw in Lover Enshrined, we don't see them doing much eveil deeds.

Perhaps because I'm not a Rehv fan nor a Xhex fan and I expected more of Ehlena, but this book didn't really thrill me. I'd rate it exactly the same as Lover Enshrined, which was a correct read for me. Maybe if I didn't have such incredible expectations from the mind-blowing first 4 books I'd have enjoyed the last ones better :(.

Nicola, is Rehv sleeping with the Princess whos also happens to be his half sister who is ALSO married to his uncle? EWWW!

Nicola O. said...

Other than that "sleeping" is a mis-nomer, YES on the triple EWWW. Also, I believe the Princess/Uncle relationship is incestuous. Kah-reepy.

Nicola, is it me or is the book not that awesome because theres more JM and Xhex than Rhev? I feel like I've been jipped.

I think all the books weave in one or two signficant subplots, so the JM content didn't bug me. I'm still thinking on it, but yeah, Rehv seemed underdeveloped to me.

*pondering*

I finished it and Im unsatisfied. Rehvs story had like less than ten chapters and there was too too much going on in one book. Ehlena was suppose to be the main character, but I felt Xhex covered most of the book.

I'm still trying to decide if I liked it or not. I'm thinking I'm with you. MUCH better than Phury's story, but I thought the "romance" was gypped. Also, JM got on my nerves big-time. I think I'm the only one who feels that way though. *sigh*

Oh, I'm with you on the (spoiler deleted). I read that & kept thinking "HUH?" Didn't fit the rest of the "history" she'd created. I think that's my biggest pet peeve w/ Ms. Ward; she screws with her own history too much and is all "It's my book so I'll do whatever I want even though I've established the world as this and that."

Also, what was up with the SV? Anyone else scratch their head over her complete...well, I won't go into details, but if you've read the book you'll know what I mean. I could never stand her, but eesh.

And the whole Wrath thing. Talk about overkill. *sigh*

And I'm so going to hell for my "spoilers". LOL!
